Former Ohio State head coach turned FOX analyst Urban Meyer had some major praise for Trevor Lawrence this weekend, but it turns out that his comments on the Clemson quarterback were misinterpreted.

Meyer was believed to call Lawrence the best college football quarterback "ever" during FOX's college football preview show on Saturday.

That's not actually what Meyer said, though.

Meyer took to Twitter this morning to issue some clarity.

“The quarterback at Clemson is the best quarterback in college football. However, what about the rest of the team?” Meyer said.

It's possible that Lawrence could go down as the best college football quarterback ever, but it's only been one season.

The Heisman Trophy frontrunner will need a massive sophomore and junior season to approach "best ever" quality.

Clemson is set to open its 2019 season on Thursday against Georgia Tech. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. E.T. on the ACC Network.
