Urban Meyer On The QB Competition When J.T. Barrett Leaves

Who's Ohio State's next starting quarterback?

J.T. Barrett is a redshirt junior, so it's possible (probable maybe, even) that he decides to return to Ohio State for another season. Of course, it's also possible he decides he's had enough of the college game and wants to try his hand professionally.

Who will take over for Barrett whenever he decides to leave Ohio State?

Urban Meyer talked about that shortly during his call-in show today.

Basically, he said he thinks it'll be a good competition between Joe Burrow, the Buckeyes' backup right now, and Dwayne Haskins, a true freshman and former top QB recruit.

Burrow has played well in backup duty this season, throwing for 226 yards and two touchdowns on 78.6 percent passing.

Haskins, a former Maryland commit, switched to Ohio State late and was a four-star recruit in the 2016 class.
