ESPN's Paul Finebaum Updates His Urban Meyer Prediction

Urban Meyer's future as the head coach of Ohio State's football program will be decided within the next hour or so. The school's Board of Trustees is set to meet at 9 a.m. E.T. A decision could be coming shortly after that.

At this point, a suspension or an immediate reinstatement of Meyer is what's expected by most.

Ohio State beat reporter Tim May appeared on The Paul Finebaum Show late on Tuesday and said he wouldn't be surprised if Meyer was back coaching by this afternoon.

"But the more I hear about this thing, basically the way I hear it, Urban Meyer followed the letter of the law as it's written out by Ohio State like he said three weeks ago or two-and-a-half weeks ago," May said. "I would not be surprised to see him – I don't know if ‘exonerated’ is the right word because this isn't a legal forum, but I wouldn't be surprised to maybe see him come out of this ready to go back on the field maybe as early as Wednesday afternoon or Thursday."

Finebaum, meanwhile, appeared on Get Up! this morning. He updated his own prediction.

"I'm expecting them to retain Urban Meyer," Finebaum said.

He said the question now is if Meyer is just immediately reinstated or if they decide to keep him away from the field for another week or so.

A firing, Finebaum said, seems unlikely.

"I think it's a big hill to climb to fire him," Finebaum said.

Stay tuned. A decision could be coming soon.
