Video: Purdue's Horrible Mistake Costs Boilermakers The Game vs. Northwestern
The first Big Ten game of the 2018 college football season was a good one. Northwestern pulled off a major road victory, taking down Purdue in West Lafayette, 31-27.
The Boilermakers entered the game with some optimism, as many experts picked Jeff Brohm's team to get the win. Purdue costed itself too much late, though.
Needing to make a stop late in the contest to get the ball back and go for the win, Purdue's defense got one - but the Boilermakers' front then made a stupid mistake and earned a devastating penalty.
Purdue was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty when a defender threw the Northwestern running back to the ground after making the stop.
