Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh preview:

The Hokies are fresh off of a 37-16 win over Miami this past Thursday while the Panthers enjoyed a bye week this past week. Pittsburgh's last game played was a win over Virginia, 45-31, on Oct. 15.

The Panthers were out gained by the Cavaliers 364-346, but did not commit one turnover and also rushed for 209 yards in the win. Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans had a nice outing against the 'Canes as he went 21-for-33 through the air for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

The Hokies held Miami to just 42 rushing yards on the day while they managed 251 rushing yards.

The Panthers knocked off the Hokies in Blacksburg last season 17-13.

Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh prediction:

Both teams enter this one with confidence. Virginia Tech ranks sixth in the ACC with 436 yards per game while Pittsburgh is seventh in the conference with 418 yards per contest.

A key stat to look at is Pittsburgh's sacks as it has 25 on the year which leads the ACC. Defensive lineman Ejuan Price is tied atop the conference with nine sacks on the year. Evans has been sacked 11 times this season which is the ninth most among ACC quarterbacks.

The Hokies seemed to have found a running game last week against Miami, but Pittsburgh's run defense is allowing just 96.9 rushing yards per game which ranks fifth nationally. With that, the Hokies will need to get the passing game going and Evans is more than capable of doing so.
