Kicking a field goal is no small feat, even for the most accomplished kickers in college football. For the general population, getting the ball through the uprights is an even more difficult task.
One college football fan found that out the hard way on Saturday night.
At the Big Ten game in East Lansing between Nebraska and Michigan State, a Spartans fan was invited to try and kick a field goal during a break in the action. If he converted the kick, he would win a new car.
Unfortunately, the moment didn’t go according to plan for the fan. After a short run up, he flubbed the kick, tripped and fell. The ball wasn’t close to going through the uprights and went just a few yards down the field.
After the failed kick, the disappointed Michigan State fan laid on the ground, probably reflecting on what he’d gotten himself into.

First of all, this Michigan State fan deserves some credit for being willing to go down on the field and give the challenge a shot. Not many can say they’d be willing to try a field goal in front of thousands of people.
However, he probably didn’t think that the attempt would go this poorly. Not only did he not walk away with a new car, but this unfortunate moment will now live in perpetuity.
Let this video serve as a cautionary tale to anyone who thinks about trying to kick a field goal in front of a full crowd in the future.
