The Vols appear to be on the verge of hiring the Alabama assistant.
Multiple reports are indicating that Tennessee has offered its head coaching position to Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, and that Pruitt is planning to take the job.
The 43-year-old Pruitt has been the DC at Alabama, Georgia and Florida State, winning a national title with the Seminoles in 2013. His potential hire has drawn solid praise from many media members.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum weighed in on Pruitt on SportsCenter this morning. Overall, he’s a fan of the hire.
“I“I think Jeremy Pruitt is a good choice when you consider everything else,” Finebaum said. “Yes, it’s a precipitous drop from Jon Gruden, which is where this coaching search began, but he has good experience.”
Finebaum added that he doesn’t think the stage will be too big for Pruitt. You can watch his full thoughts below.
We expect Tennessee to announce this hire some time today.
