Ohio State coach Urban Meyer shared his first memory of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.
Urban Meyer hopped on the line with the Rich Eisen Show ahead of Ohio State's game against Michigan this weekend. Eisen asked Meyer what his first memory of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry was, and Meyer's response shows how deep this rivalry truly runs.
Meyer went all the way back to the age of six when his mother took him away from watching the game to run an errand.
The Ohio native then recounted his encounters with Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes. Schembechler was the head coach at Michigan and Hayes the head coach at Ohio State during what was known as the "Ten Year War." This was the nickname for the series played between the two teams from 1969-1978.
Meyer remarked about the mutual respect between Hayes and Schembechler while recounting his visits with each.
Ohio State hosts Michigan this weekend. The games kicks off at 12:00 p.m. E.T. and will be broadcast on ABC.
