ESPN’s College GameDay is in Pullman, Washington this week for a Pac-12 showdown between Oregon and Washington State. The winner will keep itself in striking distance of Washington atop the Pac-12 North.
ESPN typically announces its next College GameDay destination late Saturday night. We already have a pretty good idea where they will be headed next weekend.
Taking a look ahead at the Week 9 schedule. one matchup sticks out: Florida vs. Georgia in Jacksonville. The “Rivalry Formerly Known as The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” has major implications this season.
Both teams are ranked high, with Georgia checking in at No. 8 in this week’s AP Poll and Florida appearing at No. 11. Both sport identical 6-1 records and have a bye this week to help prepare for the game.
The winner of this showdown will have a leg up in the SEC East. In fact, seven of the last 10 SEC Championship Games have featured either Florida or Georgia.
Additionally, the atmosphere for this one will be top notch. These teams are arch-rivals and have played each other every year since 1944.
There is already a hype video out for the game thanks to YouTube user Stattic The Goat.
Georgia destroyed Florida 42-7 in last year’s matchup, snapping a three-game winning streak by the Gators against the Bulldogs. Georgia leads the all-time series 51-43-2.
This game on Oct. 27 has already been announced as a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. CBS will broadcast it as its SEC Game of the Week.
We expect ESPN’s College GameDay to be there as well.
