Urban Meyer will not be on the sideline for Ohio State tonight. The Buckeyes' head coach is still suspended as a result of the school's investigation into his handling of now-fired assistant coach Zach Smith.

Ohio State, of course, is set to take on TCU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Buckeyes enter tonight's game as a big favorite.

Meyer is serving the final game of his three-game suspension tonight. He will not be in Texas for the game, either.

While Meyer's suspension technically ends at midnight after Ohio State's game, he's stayed back in Ohio for this one. He'll rejoin the team on Sunday.

"For those wondering, Urban Meyer's final game day under suspension doesn't begin until midnight Saturday, but he did not travel with Ohio State to TCU, a spokesman confirmed. Meyer rejoins the team with no restrictions Sunday," ESPN's Adam Rittenberg said.

Ohio State has looked quite good in Urban Meyer's absence, too. The Buckeyes are 2-0 and going for a third straight win tonight.

TCU head coach Gary Patterson has been impressed. Patterson thinks that Meyer's absence has possibly helped Ohio State stay focused and motivated early in the season.

“They’re in midseason form,” Patterson said earlier this week. “Probably that sense of urgency put them in that situation.”

We'll see if Ohio State's players miss Meyer tonight, though. If there was a game where he was going to be missed, it'd be this one.

Ohio State and TCU are set to kick off at 8 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
