On Saturday afternoon, Clemson found itself against the ropes as Syracuse looked to pull of the upset for the second-consecutive season. After losing quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the first half, it looked like the Tigers were in trouble.
Then the Clemson offensive line took over and the Tigers ran all over the Syracuse defensive line to win the game by a final score of 27-23. After the game, Clemson - the No. 3 team in the nation - rushed the field.
Initially, the fans received flak on social media for rushing the field against an unranked opponent. However, the Tigers faithful does this after every win.
According to SB Nation, the move dates back well beyond 2003. It's called the "Gathering at the Paw."
Clemson escaped with the win to keep its hopes of an undefeated season and a potential trip to the college Football Playoff alive.
Next up for Clemson is a trip to Wake Forest.
