While the majority of the buzz surrounding quarterback prospects this year centers around Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins, another signal-caller is earning praise for his performance today. It appears scouts were thoroughly impressed by Will Grier during his pro day.
Grier had a tremendous senior season with West Virginia, throwing for 3,864 yards and 37 touchdowns. Although there are concerns about his stature, his collegiate statistics with the Mountaineers are quite telling.
Even though Grier isn’t a first-round selection in the eyes of many, the early indication is that his stock is about to go through the roof. His production during West Virginia’s pro day might bump him to a guaranteed second-round pick.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, one scout said Grier “put on a show” for the teams in attendance.
One NFL scout in Morgantown, W.V., just texted that QB Will Grier “put on a show” for NFL Teams in attendance and predicted he’s “a riser.” The WVU QB is expected to meet with at least 10 teams before the draft, including the Giants, Redskins, Chargers, Pats and Saints.

The fact that at least 10 teams want to meet with the gunslinger before the draft is impressive. Franchises such as the Patriots and the Saints might see him as an option to eventually replace their legendary quarterbacks.
Grier won’t amaze scouts with his athletic ability, but his football knowledge could separate himself from the field.
WVU QB Will Grier had two dinners last night: steak and salad w/ the #Panthers Norv and Scott Turner and a sushi roll w/ the #Redskins’ Jay Gruden. He’s meeting w/ the #Giants today. The way he distinguishes himself from other QBs, he said? By showing what a playbook junkie he is

Clearly Grier has the confidence to play at the next level. However, the jump from the NCAA to the NFL will certainly be a challenge.
We’ll see where the West Virginia will continue his playing career in April.
