Following the close of the 2018 college football season, the year of the transfer quarterback kicked off. Several high-profile quarterbacks decided to take their talents elsewhere, including Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields.

Hurts revealed his plans to transfer from Alabama to Oklahoma after losing the starting job to Tua Tagovailoa. Meanwhile, Fields transferred from Georgia to Ohio State after failing to take over the job from Jake Fromm.

Now, another top college quarterback could be on the move. According to a report from Matt Zenitz, Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook is exploring a transfer from the Badgers.

He's entered the transfer portal.

Hornibrook took over the starting role for the Badgers in 2017 and led the team in passing again in 2018.

Despite leading the team in passing, Hornibrook missed significant time near the end of the regular season with a head injury.

Sophomore quarterback Jack Coan stepped in and performed admirably for the Badgers in Hornibrook's absence.

A likely significant factor in Hornibrook's decision is Wisconsin's incoming quarterback recruit. Graham Mertz, a four-star recruit, lit up the All-American Bowl en route to setting a game-record with five passing touchdowns.

Now he gears up to take a run at the starting job for the Badgers. If Hornibrook leaves, that job becomes much easier.
