WNBA Star Had Perfect Response To Fans Trolling Her Over Nail Length

The discourse surrounding the WNBA has become increasingly negative over the last few weeks, and things reached a boiling point on Wednesday night in Connecticut.

As the Sun eliminated the Fever from the playoffs in a two-game sweep, the topic of fan conduct was on everyone's mind during and after the game.

A fan was ejected after exchanging words with Caitlin Clark, while another woman taunted the Sun's DiJonai Carrington with what some are calling a "racist" costume.

Carrington inadvertently poked Clark in the eye during Game 1, a play that both players have said was not made with any malicious intent. In response, a Fever fan attending the game wore cartoonishly fake nails and a shirt reading "BAN NAILS."

Carrington - who doesn't wear long nails - took the opportunity to respond to the fan with a new video on Instagram.

"I've loved rockin my short, natural nails ALL season," Carrington said in the video, zooming in on her hand to show that her nails barely extend past the tip of her finger.

"Pls leave me alone!!!," she said in the caption.

Carrington is in the midst of the best season of her career, averaging 12.7 points and five rebounds per game in the regular season. She was also one of the league's best perimeter defenders this season, and earned the Most Improved Player award for her efforts.

UNCASVILLE, CT - JUNE 10: DiJonai Carrington #21 of the Connecticut Sun plays defense against Caitlin Clark #22 of the Indiana Fever during the game on June 10, 2024 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Carrington and the Sun will continue their journey against another award winner in the semifinals. The Sun will take on Defensive Player of the Year winner Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx.

The winner of that best-of-five series will take on either the Las Vegas Aces or the New York Liberty in the WNBA Finals.

Carrington has been an important part of one of the best teams in the league this season, and she's been able to rise above the noise to help her team win.

We'll see if she can keep it up when the Sun take on the Lynx in Game 1 tomorrow night in Minnesota.
