4-Star PG Tremont Waters Granted Release From Georgetown, Reopens Recruitment

Tremont Waters has been granted a full release from Georgetown.

Notre Dame of West Haven High School star Tremont Waters committed to Georgetown back in October. However, after the school fired John Thompson III and hired Patrick Ewing as the team's head coach, Waters had a change of heart.

After Thompson was fired, the high school senior filed paperwork with the school requesting his release from his National Letter of Intent. That release was granted by the school, and Waters sent the following tweet to update his recruitment.

Patrick Ewing was a guest on ESPN's Mike & Mike Thursday morning and announced that he would be on a flight to Connecticut to meet with Waters and his father, Ed. Ewing also stated he hoped Allen Iverson would join him in his recruiting efforts of Waters.

Iverson, a notable Georgetown alum, would be a huge recruiting tool, if he chooses to help Ewing with those efforts.

According to 247Sports' Composite Rankings, Waters is the No. 9 point guard and the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2017 recruiting class. Waters also held offers from Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, and Duke, before announcing his commitment to Georgetown.

This is a huge domino in the 2017 recruiting process and Waters will make one program very happy.
