Alabama Basketball Player Arrested Hours After Cancellation Of SEC Tournament

The reaction to the cancellation of most major sports leagues and tournaments has hit us all very hard. But one Alabama player who saw the SEC Tournament cancelled yesterday had a very different reaction to the ordeal.

According to Saturday Down South, Alabama forward Alex Reese quickly found himself in some trouble with the law. Per the report, he was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Friday morning and charged with public intoxication. The bond for his release was reportedly set at $300.

Reese was a breakout performer on Nate Oats’ team this past year. He “finished” the year with 8.8 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 1.1 assists per game – all career highs. Reese started 26 of 31 games, and averaged over 22 minutes per appearance.

As of writing, there is no mugshot for the Alabama junior.

Prior to the cancellation of the SEC Tournament, Alabama was slated to face Tennessee. The winner of that game would go on to face No. 1 seed Kentucky.

But outside of winning the SEC Tournament, Alabama was a longshot to make the NCAA Tournament.

Reese will probably be out and back up on his feet in no time. Though he may find himself in Nate Oats’ doghouse before next season.

The same can’t exactly be said about the 2019-20 college athletics season.
