This upcoming season, the Big Ten tournament will begin the week of February 28 - March 4. In order to take the conference tournament to Madison Square Garden in New York, the Big Ten had to move up the tourney a week to fit around MSG's schedule. The Big East conference tournament will be held there the following week.
What it basically means is that all Big Ten teams will have a week off between the tournament championship game and the NCAA tournament selection show. Historically the Big Ten tournament championship game and the selection show have taken place on the same day.
While the additional rest might help some teams dealing with nagging injuries, it could also be a time for players to get rusty.
