Billy Donovan To Indiana: Would He Consider The Hoosiers Job?

How real are the Billy Donovan-to-Indiana rumors?

Indiana's men's basketball program is currently looking for its next head coach. Will that next head coach be two-time national champion Billy Donovan?

According to some Indiana fans: Yes, he will be.

To this point, nothing official has emerged in the Donovan-to-IU story, but search Twitter or message boards and the talk is real, at least.

Donovan, 51, makes $5 million/year coaching in the NBA and he coaches a good team in the Oklahoma City Thunder. But there appears to be a ceiling with this Thunder team - the second round of the NBA Playoffs, probably - and it's quite possible Russell Westbrook is going to leave the franchise when he becomes a free agent.

So, the idea of Donovan returning to the college game isn't crazy. Indiana could pay him as much (or more) than the Thunder are paying him. And if he wants to return to the college game, there aren't too many jobs better than IU.

Donovan said the following about the rumors:

"I am totally happy here,” Donovan said, per The Oklahoman. “I love it here. I love the guys I work with every day. I love our staff, the organization. As far as I’m concerned, my commitment is totally here and doing the best job I can while I’m here."

That's not a complete denial..

If Donovan is the guy, it's probably going to take a while before the hire is made/announced. The Thunder are likely going to be playing until mid-May. Can Indiana wait that long to make a hire?
