There are nine days left until Selection Sunday, and the start of one of the most interesting NCAA Tournaments in recent memory. If the regular season is anything to go by, the 2020 edition could offer us all kinds of chaos. The latest Bracketology projects some pretty fun matchups.
The regular season is coming to a close this weekend, and many teams will see their conference tournament seeding come down to the wire. Ahead of the big weekend, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has unveiled a new Bracketology before the pivotal end of the season, after a minor update on Thursday.
Rising into the top four in this version of the bracket are the Wisconsin Badgers, who are closing in on the Big Ten regular season title. Greg Gard’s Badgers have rather quietly put together a seven-game winning streak, lifting them from 6-6 against their Big Ten foes to a three-way tie for the conference lead. A win over Indiana at Assembly Hall this weekend would secure Gard his first-ever share of the regular season title.
Here are Lunardi’s current top-four seed lines for his Bracketology, via ESPN:
East Region:
- San Diego State
- Dayton
- Duke
- Maryland
Midwest Region:
- Kansas
- Seton Hall
- Kentucky
- Wisconsin
South Region:
- Baylor
- Florida State
- Villanova
- Oregon
West Region:
- Gonzaga
- Louisville
- Michigan State
- Creighton
It may be the final weekend of the regular season but there will be no shortage of games between top 25 teams.
On Saturday, No. 8 Seton Hall and No. 11 Creighton will battle with a share of the Big East title on the line. We’ll also see No. 10 Louisville head to No. 22 Virginia with a piece of the ACC title up for grabs.
Of course, the Duke-UNC rivalry will finish Saturday’s slate at Chapel Hill. With a terrible season likely to see them axed from Selection Sunday, the Tar Heels would love nothing more than to deprive their arch-rivals of a chance to win the ACC.
On Sunday we’ll get three huge top 25 matchups in the Big Ten. No. 25 Michigan at No. 9 Maryland, No. 19 Ohio State at No. 16 Michigan State, and No. 18 Iowa at No. 23 Illinois wrap up an incredibly tight race in the conference.
Are you excited yet?
