Dan Le Batard Really Hates NCAA Tournament Star
No. 1 seed Purdue is currently taking it to No. 8 seed Utah State in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
All-American big man Zach Edey, the frontrunner for national player of the year, has been dominant. He's got 21 points and 11 rebounds at halftime.
While Edey is the best player in the country, he's not fun to watch - that's what former ESPN host Dan Le Batard thinks, anyway.
"Look, Edey, you made my life worse. You and Wisconsin made my life worse. All of you, just getting in the way of everybody. Just playing basketball by getting in the way," Le Batard said this week.
"Zach Edey just plants himself like a tree. I haven’t seen a body like that since Yao Ming’s. And his ankles are bigger than anyone’s thighs. And we’re distorting the sport. Have you seen [Victor] Wembanyama? Like he just stands over these 6-10 people who are bigger than anyone you’ve ever seen and just places the ball over them in the basket."
Le Batard had previously said that if Edey played in the 1980s, he would've been drafted ahead of Michael Jordan.
"Are you saying Zach Edey is going to be better than Michael Jordan?" his longtime co-host Jon "Stugotz" Weiner asked.
"No!" Le Batard yelled. "He’s going to be terrible. He can’t move… It’s so un-aesthetically pleasing. Zach Edey is a plague, I’m sorry. Purdue, you’re a plague."
Plague or not, Purdue is winning big on Sunday.
Purdue and Utah State are set to begin the second half shortly on CBS.
