Monday means new college basketball rankings. The AP and Coaches polls are out, and so are Dick Vitale’s own personal ratings.
Vitale put out his new top seven last night. He vaulted Duke to No. 1 and dropped Tennessee from the top spot to No. 5 after the Vols were beaten by Kentucky on Saturday.
Gonzaga, Virginia and Kentucky are in the 2-3-4 slots. The third-ranked Cavs are currently on the road in a rivalry game at Virginia Tech, who is ranked 20th.
Here is Vitale’s latest top 10:
- North Carolina

The highlight of this week in college hoops will be the rivalry game between Vitale’s No. 1 (Duke) and his No. 8 team (North Carolina). The two blue blood programs will meet on Wednesday night in a showdown that could have plenty of impact on the ACC regular season race.
Come Saturday, the Blue Devils will travel to take on a Syracuse team that handed them their only ACC loss thus far. Virginia will travel to Louisville to take on a ranked Cardinals team, while Tennessee will travel to 13th-ranked LSU.
North Carolina will host 16th-ranked Florida State on Saturday as well.
