It may have come up on us all a bit quickly, but the first week of the 2019-20 college basketball season is now in the books. There were a number of surprises in Week 1, not the least of which was NCAA title frontrunners Kansas and Michigan both dropping their openers in the Champions Classic to Duke and Kentucky respectively.
Having watched and given his thoughts on all of the biggest games, Dickie V has re-examined his weekly top five list.
Here is Dick Vitale’s Top 5 following Week 1 of the college basketball season:

Unsurprisingly, the Kentucky Wildcats were the biggest winners, jumping to the front after a 69-62 win over No. 1 Michigan State. They also closed out the week with a 42-point win over Eastern Kentucky.
Duke also finished the week strong, edging out Kansas before crushing Colorado State in their home opener.
Louisville got convincing wins over ACC rival Miami and Youngstown State.
As for Michigan State and Kansas, they returned from their losses at MSG to beat Binghamton and UNC Greensboro respectively.
The next few weeks may not offer much in terms of potential drama, but Dickie V will be paying close attention to who looks strongest heading into the big games.
