The Sweet 16 kicked off on Thursday night, and followed the same tune as the rest of the NCAA Tournament this year: upset city. Loyola, Kansas State, and Florida State all pulled off upsets while four other teams are hoping to do the same tonight.
Four games are on the docket for tonight: No. 5 Clemson vs. No. 1 Kansas, No. 5 West Virginia vs. No. 1 Villanova, No. 11 Syracuse vs. No. 2 Duke, and No. 3 Texas Tech vs. No. No. 2 Purdue.
If your bracket is busted, which it probably is, you're not alone. ESPN analyst Dick Vitale took Michigan State to beat Virginia to win the NCAA Tournament this year. Both of those teams didn't even reach the Sweet 16.
But he's not quitting. Dickie V gave his predictions for the Sweet 16 earlier this week. Here's a look at who he has winning tonight.
In the East, he thinks Villanova-West Virginia will be a defensive battle, but he's giving the No. 1 Wildcats the edge over No. 5 Mountaineers because of Nova's shooting and solid starting five. Despite the absence of Isaac Haas, Vitale believes No. 2 Purdue's three-point shot will propel the Boilermakers past No. 3 Texas Tech.
And finally, in the Midwest, Vitale is going with No.1 Kansas over No. 5 Clemson. As for the other match-up in the region, Vitale thinks No. 2 Duke has the best starting five in the country so he's taking the Blue Devils over No. 11 Syracuse.
Dick Vitale has all of higher seeds winning tonight. Will he have better luck with his Sweet 16 predictions? Find out tonight.
