Earlier this week, Duke superstar Zion Williamson suffered a knee sprain in the first minute of the team’s rivalry game against North Carolina. The injury occurred in a bizarre moment in which his Nike shoe suffered an unfortunate malfunction.

With the injury came questions of Zion’s future with the Blue Devils and possible future relationship with Nike when he leaves Duke. After missing the full game against North Carolina, there was legitimate concern as to how long Zion would be off the floor for Coach K.

Duke announced Zion suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain and was listed as day-to-day. On Friday, it was reported that Zion would miss the team's upcoming game against Syracuse.

Hours before tip off, Duke confirmed the news.

Zion will not play tonight against the Orange.

It's a tough blow for the Blue Devils as the team looks to avenge its earlier loss to Syracuse.

Williamson had a career high 35 points along with 10 rebounds in the first game against the Orange. Syracuse walked out with an upset victory, though Tre Jones suffered a shoulder injury in the contest.

College basketball insider Jeff Goodman revealed Zion could be back as soon as next week.

Duke and Syracuse tip off tonight at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
