With a few days before Selection Sunday, ESPN’s BPI has updated its predictions for the NCAA Tournament. One of the metrics is the probability of a team reaching the Final Four.
As of now, there are 10 teams with a double-digit chance of reaching the Final Four. Those 10 names shouldn’t surprise ardent college basketball fans, though you can argue if the computer has gotten the percentages right.
Gonzaga, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina are Final Four favorites right now. Michigan State and Kentucky are knocking at the door.
Here is the full top 10:
- Gonzaga: 62.2 percent
- Virginia: 60.8 percent
- Duke: 52.4 percent
- North Carolina: 30.7 percent
- Michigan State: 25.8 percent
- Kentucky: 19.4 percent
- Tennessee: 17.8 percent
- Michigan: 15.1 percent
- Texas Tech: 13.9 percent
- Purdue: 13.1 percent
The most notable omission on this list might be LSU, but the Tigers also could be without suspended head coach Will Wade for the entire postseason.

Right now, it looks like three of the top four teams on the list above will receive a No. 1 seed: Gonzaga, Virginia and either North Carolina or Duke.
Kentucky is also in line for a No. 1 seed, as is Michigan State.
