ESPN's Dick Vitale Makes Predictions For Sweet 16 Games

Dick Vitale dances with Louisville cheerleader.

Through two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, we've seen plenty of chalky results. Fourteen of the top 16 seeds are still playing, and only one double-digit deed remains.

If ESPN's Dick Vitale's forecast for the Sweet 16 is accurate, more chalk is on the way. Vitale released his picks for the Sweet 16 earlier today on his personal website.

He is going with the higher-seeded team in all eight games. There isn't even a three-seed over a No. 2 in his projections.

Vitale's predictions can be found below.

  • Gonzaga over Florida State
  • Tennessee over Purdue
  • Michigan over Texas Tech
  • Virginia over Oregon
  • Michigan State over LSU
  • North Carolina over Auburn
  • Duke over Virginia Tech
  • Kentucky over Houston

This isn't exactly going out on a limb by Vitale, but he's not the first pundit to suggest the top eight teams in this year's field are just a cut above everyone else. Still, it is unlikely that all four Elite Eight games will feature one vs. two-seeds.

The South and West regions will play on Thursday and Saturday, with the Midwest and East doing battle on Friday and Sunday.

Here is a look at the television and broadcast info for the Sweet 16.
