Former UNC Star PJ Hairston Arrested Wednesday Afternoon

PJ Hairston was arrested on Wednesday.

Former North Carolina basketball star PJ Hairston was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Wrightsville Beach, NC on Wednesday. According to a report from local news service WECT, Hairston was arrested after a man driving his car was stopped by police.

According to Wrightsville Beach Police Chief Dan House, after a disturbance at a Wings store, a man driving Hairston's car was stopped by officers, who asked where the car owner was.

Hairston was on a beach strand and after officers discovered the car's owner -- Hairston -- had a warrant out on him out of Orange County, Hairston was arrested. House said he didn't know what the warrant was for and that Hairston was arrested without a problem.

The Miami Heat drafted Hairston with the 26th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He played for the Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors, and Memphis Grizzlies during the 2015-2016 season. most recently, Hairston played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Houston Rockets' D-League team.

During the 2012-13 season with the Tar Heels, Hairston averaged 14.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while the team went 25-11.
