Gonzaga Advances To First Final Four, Becomes First Team To Punch Ticket To Phoenix

Gonzaga has clinched its first Final Four in program history, knocking off Xavier to win the West Region.

With the huge 83-59 win, Gonzaga is also the first team to clinch a spot in the Final Four.

Nigel Williams-Goss led the way for the Bulldogs, leading all scorers with 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Johnathan Williams chipped in 18 points. As a team, Gonzaga scorched the nets from long range, knocking down 12-of-24 threes. Perhaps more importantly, however, was the team's effort on the defensive end. Xavier star Trevon Blueitt, who had been one of the hottest players in the tournament for the surging Musketeers, was held to 10 points on a putrid 3-of-14 shooting. As a team, Xavier really struggled to shoot the ball overall, hitting just 35-percent of its field goal attempts, and 2-of-16 threes.

With the win, Gonzaga will face the winner of the East Region. That will be decided on Sunday, between SEC rivals Florida and South Carolina, at Madison Square Garden.
