Here's How Many People Picked UMBC To Win In ESPN's Bracket Challenge

UMBC players celebrate win over Virginia.

Simply put, if you fell asleep early last night, you missed the greatest upset in NCAA Tournament history.

No. 16 seed UMBC shocked top-seeded Virginia 74-54. It is the first time a 16-over-1 upset has occurred in the history of the Big Dance.

Previously, No. 16 seeds were 0-135. There had been some near misses, but no one had gotten it done before.

The Retrievers busted brackets nationwide. There are no perfect brackets on ESPN, Yahoo or CBS.

However, some people did pick UMBC to win, they just had losses elsewhere in their bracket. According to ESPN Stats and Info, 3.4 percent of brackets picked the Retrievers.

That's actually more than we'd have expected. Even if you're an alum or lifelong UMBC fan, it was tough to pick them to win last night.

UMBC and Kansas State will meet in the second round tomorrow night. Can the Retrievers do the impossible once more and get to the Sweet Sixteen?

Here is the tip time and TV info for that game.
