The Fighting Illini have lost two key recruits.
Illinois basketball program confirmed today that releases have been given to two of its recruits in the 2017 class.
Jeremiah Tilmon, a four-star power forward and the No. 29 player in the '17 class, and Javon Pickett, a three-star shooting guard, will not be playing for the Champaign, Ill. program.
Illinois' coaching change - firing John Groce and hiring Brad Underwood - caused the two players to ask for their releases from their national letters of intent.
Tilmon, a Saint Louis native, is widely expected to end up at Missouri, joining top recruit Michael Porter and four-star point guard Blake Harris.
Pickett, meanwhile, was also considering Saint Louis and Xavier, and perhaps could end up at one of those schools.
Illinois had one of the top classes in the Big Ten.
