Sophomore guard Alan Griffin was one of several breakout players for Illinois this past year. But after spending most of the season coming off the bench for the Illini, Griffin has decided to transfer.

According to ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello, Griffin has named six potential options at the moment. The list consists of Miami, Syracuse, Dayton, Iowa State, Arizona and Texas. However, Borzello also noted that Griffin is willing to widen the list and is "still open to offers."

In two seasons for the Illini, Griffin has started two of 58 games. This past year he saw a substantial increase in minutes, and rewarded Brad Underwood with 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

He had the best game of his career in a 74-66 win over Northwestern back in February. In 20 minutes played, Griffin scored a career-high 24 points.

The cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Tournament was pretty hard on Illinois. At 21-10 on the season, they would have been all but assured of an at-large bid, ending their seven-year NCAA Tournament drought.

While Underwood certainly appears to have the Illini set up to contend for the NCAA Tournament in 2021, it looks like Griffin won't be a part of that effort.

Where should Alan Griffin go on his transfer?
