CHARLOTTE, NC - MARCH 18: K.J. On Friday night we witnessed one of the biggest upsets in sports history as No. 16 UMBC knocked off No. 1 Virginia by a final score of 74-54. Not only were the Cavaliers a No. 1 seed, they were the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and the favorite to win the title after losing just two games all season.

The Retrievers exploded in the second half, outscoring Virginia by a 53-33 margin. Senior guard Jairus Lyles paced UMBC in the second half as the team completed the biggest upset in college basketball history.

Fittingly enough, Lyles' parents met at Virginia. During a press conference Lyles was asked about his own relationship status, in a very interesting way.

That's a veteran answer. Exactly what we'd expect to hear from someone who just led a massive upset with poise and grace.

UMBC continues its dance on Sunday night with a matchup against Kansas State. That game tips off at 7:45 p.m. ET on truTV.
