Jay Bilas knows who the best team in the country is. At least he thinks he does. Maybe. It's all pretty complicated when talking about college basketball as this season has showed us anyone can be beat.
In his "Full Guide To March," Bilas previewed the best teams in the country, and who we should be keeping an eye on as we head into March. Before the season kicked off, Bilas picked Michigan State as the best team in the country.
Five months later, Bilas expects the Spartans will enter the NCAA Tournament as the best team college basketball. Here's what Bilas had to say about Tom Izzo and the Spartans.
By the end of the season, I believe Michigan State will be the best team. In October, I believed that Michigan State would be the best team. It's weird how our first impressions are usually (not always, but usually) our best ones.
But, if Michigan State can't hold it together, Bilas knows another team that can. Jay Wright has the Villanova Wildcats playing as well as anyone in the country, and Bilas believes they can contend for a national title.
Jay Wright has developed the best culture, on and off the floor, in college basketball. That is not to say that other programs do not have great cultures, because they do. But Villanova's is the best.
Duke is also in contention for a Final Four spot, according to the ESPN college basketball analyst. Bilas touts Duke's offensive capabilities as the key for its success throughout the tournament.
Selection Sunday is just a few weekends away. Will Bilas' predictions hold true?
