Kansas' Josh Jackson Declares For The NBA Draft

The Jayhawks' star is off to the NBA.

Kansas star freshman Josh Jackson has made his NBA Draft decision.

The projected top-five pick is declaring for the NBA Draft and is hiring an agent, preventing the possibility of a return to Lawrence, Ks. for another season.

Jackson announced his decision in a statement released to the Associated Press.

He says in the statement that after ''consulting with my family, I have decided to enter the 2017 NBA Draft and pursue my dream of playing professional basketball.''

He added that he was thankful for ''all of the support I have received from my coaches and teammates at Kansas.''

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for Kansas this past season. He was a first-team All-Big 12 performer and the conference's newcomer of the year.

Jackson is projected to be one of the top picks in the draft and some think he could contend for the No. 1 overall selection.
