The Bruins’ freshmen are reportedly on a flight home.
The three UCLA men’s basketball players arrested in China for shoplifting are coming home.
The Wall Street Journal reports that freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were set to fly home hours after President Trump intervened with China President Xi Jinping concerning the matter. The players were reportedly seen at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai checking in for a flight back to Los Angeles.
“What they did was unfortunate. You know, you’re talking about very long prison sentences,” Trump said, per CBS News. “They do not play games.”
The three players were arrested last Tuesday on shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing from a Louis Vuitton store next to their hotel in Hangzhou before the season opener against Georgia Tech.
UCLA won its season opener, 63-60. The Bruins are next set to take on Central Arkansas on Wednesday at 11 p.m. E.T.
