Former West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins announced his resignation on Saturday after a Friday night arrest for DUI.

On Tuesday, Huggins' daughter Jacque released a lengthy statement on Facebook in which she admitted to understanding "the severity of what took place" and acknowledged how her father's actions "potentially could have, and does affect so many lives."

However, Huggins also offered a passionate defense for her father, saying he is "not an alcoholic" and "drinks like 90% of us do and made a mistake that cost him his job, reputation and his livelihood, which he didn't deserve."

She also claimed the beer cans found in her father's car were in bags and were collected for recycling purposes.

Needless to say, not everyone is buying what Jacque Huggins is contending in her statement.

"'He drinks like 90% of us do.' No, he doesn’t. That’s the whole point of the offer to go to rehab, which I hope he does," said USA TODAY's Dan Wolken. "Serious denial going on here and I sincerely hope he has the proper encouragement to get help."

"Shutting up is free, I promise," added The Smoking Musket Twitter account.

"Holy heck. How delusional," chimed in 93.7's Colin Dunlap.H

Huggins, 69, served as the head coach of West Virginia, his alma mater, for 16 seasons.
