Mark Smith, the No. 16 shooting guard in the class of 2017, is making his college choice tonight.
On Monday, Belleville News-Democrat writer David Wilhelm reported that Smith's decision would come at 6 p.m. CT today (7 p.m. ET).
Smith's father wouldn't reveal a top schools list, according to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog, but many of the top college basketball programs in the country are after the 6-foot-5 guard.
Cal, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Missouri are all among the programs to offer Smith, while Illinois, Michigan State, and Ohio State appear to be the three programs most involved with his recruitment down the stretch. He has taken visits to all three of those Big Ten programs in recent weeks, according to 247Sports.
247's crystal ball has Illinois, his home state program, as a heavy favorite, especially with the predictions that have come in recent days. Michigan State also has some submissions, but the Fighting Illini are definitely riding the wave of public opinion right now.
