Matt Coleman announced where he will play his college ball.
Texas head coach Shaka Smart just landed a huge recruit. 4-star point guard Matt Coleman made his decision at halftime of the 11:00 game at the Hoophall Classic. Coleman also announced his commitment on Twitter.
According to 247Sports' Composite Rankings, Coleman is the No. 31 recruit in the 2017 class and the No. 8 point guard.
The highly-rated guard had a litany of offers from colleges across the country, including Duke and Kansas. Coleman's final choice came down to Texas versus Duke. In the end, Shaka Smart won out and Coach K walked away a loser on this one.
The Longhorns have struggled this season and have lost three straight games to leave the Longhorns with a 7-10 record. They need help at the point guard position right away, but they'll have to wait until next year for Coleman to arrive.
It'll take a massive second-half turnaround for Texas to make the NCAA tournament this year.
