As we near the end of the NCAA Tournament, the grad transfer market for this off-season is really starting to take shape. Over the weekend, Akron’s Daniel Utomi joined the fold.
The All-MAC performer averaging 14.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Zips this year.
He’s been a consistent performer for the program. In 2017-18, he posted a career high 16.7 points per game.
After the announcement, a number of programs, including NCAA Tournament teams Iowa, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virginia, and other power conference teams like Clemson, Georgia Tech, and USC had reached out to Utomi.
Now, more big names are starting to get involved.
Stadium’s Jeff Goodman updated the transfer situation with Akron’s Daniel Utomi.
Among the new names connected to Utomi are Indiana, Kansas, Michigan and Ole Miss.
Daniel Utomi, 6-6, 215, PF, Akron
Stats: 14.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 37% 3-pointers
Quick Scout: “He’s a 4-man with some 3-man skills. Elite shooter with size. More of a straight-line one or two-dribble guy. Good team defender.”
Schools: Clemson, Nevada, Ole Miss, USC, Illinois, Xavier, Indiana, Seton Hall, Creighton, North Carolina, Iowa, Wichita State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Kansas
That’s a pretty impressive list, coming from a school not known for its basketball (outside of hometown connections to LeBron James).
