Don't fall for the rumor you're seeing online.

A crazy rumor about Friday's Kentucky-Louisville game has been going viral on social media this afternoon.

John Higgins, the referee suing a Kentucky sports site for allegedly inciting death threats from fans, is officiating the game tomorrow.

People are freaking out.

One thing with this rumor: it's not true. The rumor comes from Louisville writer Mike Rutherford, who admitted on Twitter that he was going to make it up before appearing on the radio. "I'm gonna go full War of the Worlds and announce that John Higgins is calling the game tomorrow," he wrote. "Let's freak some people out."

So, calm down, Kentucky fans, it's not true.

The Wildcats and the Cardinals are set to tip off at 1 p.m. E.T. on Friday. The game will be televised on CBS. Kentucky has opened as a 6.5-point favorite in the contest.
