Bonzie Colson's long-awaited return to the Notre Dame lineup will take place tomorrow.
The senior forward was off to a blistering start to the season before suffering a fractured foot during practice in early January. Colson hasn't played since then.
He'll make his return Wednesday against Pitt. Not only will Colson be playing, he'll be in the starting lineup.
Colson's return is major news for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame was 11-3 before his injury and just 6-9 without him.
At 17-12 overall and 7-9 in league play, Notre Dame is on the NCAA Tournament bubble. Even if they split their final two games (against Pitt and at Virginia), they will be in position to make the field with a strong showing in the ACC Tournament.
The committee will undoubtedly take into account the time Colson missed, and guards Matt Farrell and D.J. Harvey have also sat out games with injuries. Notre Dame is a dangerous team at full strength.
Prior to breaking his foot, Colson was averaging 21.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest. He was a bonafide All-American candidate.
Notre Dame and Pitt will tip off at 7 p.m. ET tomorrow night on ESPNU.
