Ohio State's Women's Basketball Team Got Great News Tonight

The Buckeyes are getting their best player back.

Ohio State's women's basketball program announced this evening that junior star Kelsey Mitchell will return for her senior season.

This is significant.

Mitchell, a second-team All-American, had been considering leaving early for the WNBA Draft, but opted to return to Columbus for one final year. She wants a Final Four.

"Getting a degree from The Ohio State University was one of my top goals when coming to college and I look forward to completing my degree next spring," Mitchell, a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, said in a statement released by the school. "My teammates and I also have a number of goals we have yet to accomplish on the court. One of those goals is to play in the Final Four and we have a tremendous opportunity to do that next year here in Columbus. I'm excited to get back in the gym with my teammates and continue to work to get better."

This past season, Mitchell averaged 22.6 points and 3.9 assists while leading the Buckeyes to a regular season Big Ten title and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Ohio State should be one of the country's best teams in 2017-18.
