Photo Shows College Basketball Player's Nasty Ankle Injury

Utah player David Collette suffered a nasty ankle injury

Utah's basketball season is over.

It ended Thursday night as the Utes walked off in defeat after facing the Penn State Nittany Lions in the NIT Championship game.

But you can't say the Utes didn't compete. After a solid regular season, Utah entered as a No. 2 seed in the NIT and knocked off No. 1 overall seed St. Mary's during its run to the NIT championship game.

In particular, David Collette showed his toughness.

After the game against Penn State, a local Utah blogger posted a photo of Collette's ankle injury from earlier in the season. He suffered the injury a few days before Utah's Pac-12 Tournament game against Oregon.

Less than a week later he was battling the injury in the NIT. He played a pivotal role in Utah's success during the 2017-18 season.

Collette was the team's second-leading scorer despite playing just 21 minutes per game.

The senior suffered a hit to the head of Utah's game against Penn State that appeared to knock him out. There's no questioning his toughness.
