Report: 5-Star Arizona Commit Emmanuel Akot Is Reclassifying To 2017

The elite recruit has decided to reclassify to the 2017 class.

Arizona's men's basketball program received huge news on Sunday night, when star freshman Rawle Alkins decided to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return for his sophomore season.

The streak of good news continues today.

According to a report by Scout.com's Evan Daniels, Arizona commit Emmanuel Akot has decided to reclassify to the 2017 class. The five-star small forward is ranked the No. 14 player in the 2018 class by 247Sports' Composite Rankings.

"I chose to reclass because I know I'm ready," Akot told Scout.com. "I want to get better and I know I will get pushed everyday at Arizona. I'll be on a really good team too so this is a great opportunity for me."

Akot, a 6-foot-7 forward originally from Canada, joins a loaded Arizona team that could be ranked No. 1 in the preseason top 25 polls.

The Wildcats' 2017 class is ranked the No. 5 class in the country and includes a commitment from five-star power forward DeAndre Ayton, the No. 3 player in the nation. Sean Miller's '17 class will jump up a couple of spots in the recruiting rankings thanks to Akot's reclassifying.
