After leading Saint Peter's to the Elite Eight in this year's NCAA tournament, Shaheen Holloway has decided to take the next step in his coaching career. On Wednesday, he officially agreed to a deal to become the next head coach of Seton Hall's basketball program.
This is a full-circle moment for Holloway, who played at Seton Hall and was an assistant coach for the university from 2010 to 2018.
Of course, Holloway is excited for this opportunity to lead Seton Hall's basketball team. However, he doesn't want to jump ship without first thanking the community at Saint Peter's.
On Thursday morning, Holloway posted a heartfelt message for "Peacock Nation" on Twitter.
"Good morning, Thank you Peacock Nation for all your love and support," Holloway wrote. "Words can not explain the appreciation and love I have for you all .. Lets Make sure you all keep supporting the team with the same energy and passion you did all year long .. Love is love coach sha!"
Saint Peter's became the first-ever No. 15 seed to make the Elite Eight. That's a pretty cool achievement for Holloway.
If Holloway can lead Saint Peter's to wins over Kentucky, Murray State and Purdue, he should be able to have success at Seton Hall.
