Here's a way-too-early preseason top 25 for the 2017-17 college basketball season.
The 2016-17 college basketball season is down to one game. Monday night, Gonzaga and North Carolina will play for the national championship.
It's already time to look ahead to next season, though.
Sporting News has released its way-too-early preseason top 25 for the 2017-18 season.
So much will change between now and the start of the season, of course, but here’s a look at how we at Sporting News — with the leading influence from SN college hoops guru Mike DeCourcy — think teams stack up right now, based on which players we think will make the jump to professional basketball and which players will return. We’ll adjust our ranking along the way, as decisions are made and transfers are announced.
Here Sporting News' top 25:
- Michigan State
- Wichita State
- Notre Dame
- West Virginia
- Saint Mary's
- Virginia Tech
It seems pretty fair. Northwestern at No. 25 might be a stretch (Maryland or Wisconsin will be better in the Big Ten next season, in my opinion) but there are no serious complaints.
