On Wednesday afternoon, new broke that Syracuse basketball star Frank Howard has been suspended for the NCAA Tournament. According to a release from the program, Howard won't play due to "violation of athletic department policy."

Howard, who made headlines for appearing to trip Zion Williamson last week, is out for at least the first game of the tournament. The news comes just over 24 hours before the Orange were scheduled to take on Baylor in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Not long after the news broke, head coach Jim Boeheim spoke to the media. He shed little light on Howard's suspension, saying it will be "difficult" to make a change this late.

"He’s not playing. We know that.... We started the year without him... very difficult to make that change now... fortunately Tyus has played the point quite a bit this year... Jalen’s had good practices," Boeheim said on Thursday afternoon.

According to Syracuse insider Mike Waters, Boeheim was asked about Howard returning later in the tournament.

Syracuse is set to take on Baylor at 9:57 PM ET on Thursday night. The game will be broadcast on TruTV.

Stay tuned for an official announcement regarding Howard's suspension.
