No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 16 Texas Southern Preview: Game Time, Broadcast, Betting Line, Prediction

The North Carolina Tar Heels (27-7) are the No. 1 seed in the South Region, and will take on the No. 16 seed Texas Southern Tigers (23-11). The game will be played at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC on Friday, March 17.

Preview: UNC secured the No. 1 seed with big wins over Florida State, Duke, Louisville, and Notre Dame. They are led by junior forward Justin Jackson, who averages 18.1 points per game.

North Carolina’s last NCAA Tournament appearance was last season. As a No. 1 seed, the Tar Heels made it to the NCAA National Championship Game, where they lost to No. 1 Villanova by a score of 77-74 on a last-second buzzer-beater.

Texas Southern’s last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2015. The Tigers lost to Arizona in the First Round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament by a score of 93-72.

Prediction: North Carolina has too much depth for the Tigers to handle here. The Tar Heels dominate both the offensive and defensive glass, and should do so against Texas Southern.
