The second day of the 2018 NCAA Tournament has begun. We're already knee deep in upset attempts.
Providence had Texas A&M on the ropes early, but couldn't overtake the Aggies in the second half. One team that had no troubling closing out the upset was No. 13 Marshall.
The Thundering Herd knocked off No. 4 Wichita State with a dominant second half. After trialing by three at halftime, Marshall outscored the Shockers 47-38 in the second half to move one.
81-75 was the final.
Wichita State was a heavy favorite entering this afternoon's contest, and was poised for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The Shockers started the 2017-18 season as one of the favorites to win the title, with a solid corps of returning starters from the previous season.
The No. 4 seed is 107–27 against the No. 13 seed. Make that 107-28 now that the Thundering Herd pulled off an epic upset.
Marshall now awaits the winner of the No. 5 West Virginian vs. No. 12 Murray State, which tips off later this afternoon.
