Last night, the Virginia Cavaliers punched their ticket into the Final Four. It's a moment that will stick with Tony Bennett for a while.
Bennett was a main target for critics last season when Virginia was upset by UMBC. However, the head coach of the Cavaliers didn't let that affect his strategy this time around during March Madness.
Instead, Bennett led his team to an overtime victory over Purdue in the Elite Eight. Although the action on the hardwood was outstanding, the exchange between Bennett and his father after the game was even better.
Dick Bennett spoke with Andy Katz about getting to see his son reach his ultimate goal. His comments about his son were very touching as he clearly is his biggest fan.
Here is the heartwarming moment between father and son:
Dick Bennett spent roughly 40 years coaching basketball, as his most notable job was with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Despite having his share of great memories on the hardwood, Dick Bennett enjoyed watching Tony Bennett reach the Final Four more than anything.
Virginia will have a short break before playing against Kentucky or Auburn in the Final Four.
Perhaps there a few more magical moments left this season for the Cavaliers.
